CKS Ventures 2015 — 2025

We believe the best way to help a culture thrive is to make it come alive. Since 2015, we have been connecting with people from different place and culture and have seen the rhythm of connecting people and places in different times. Its been a journey together to make the Indigenous Cultures come alive AGAIN!

Director's Note

As the Director of the Centre for Karbi Studies, I am honoured to lead an institution dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Karbi culture, language, and traditions. Our organisation is committed to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich heritage of the Karbi people, and to providing a platform for inclusive and sensitive research, education, and community engagement.

With a mission to create a vibrant and inclusive space where scholars, researchers, artists, and community members can come together to explore, enrich, and share knowledge about Indigenous history, culture, and society, we aim to document and interpret the Karbi ethos, worldview, and history from the Karbi people’s cultural perspective. Our objective is to promote interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and innovation, and to support the development of new generations of Karbi scholars, leaders, community knowledge keepers and cultural practitioners.

Through our programmes, events, and activities, we seek to celebrate the diversity and richness of indigenous Karbi culture and to promote greater understanding, respect, and recognition of the Karbi people’s contributions to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of our region. In the process, we believe we can contribute to and support efforts to preserve and revitalize the Karbi language, culture, and traditions.

I invite the young inquisitive minds to join me and my team on this enriching journey and to explore the many resources, opportunities, and activities that indigenous research has to offer. Together, let us work towards creating a broader research community to establish an ecosystem for collaborative and respectful knowledge exchange among community knowledge keepers, scholars, students, and researchers across diverse disciplines.
