About Him :
Teron, an indigenous scholar from the Karbi tribe in Karbi Anglong, Assam, India, is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion, and Society in Oslo, Norway. His research focuses on the intricate interplay of social, religious, and political dimensions within the Karbi community, particularly within the framework of post-colonial identity politics and belonging in a predominantly majority-controlled state. Prior to his doctoral studies, Teron obtained a Master’s degree in folkloristics from Tartu University, Estonia, and a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Hindu College, Delhi University. As a member of the MYTHOPOL research project and the Theory from the Margins consortium, Teron actively engages with a network of scholars working on related themes. His research employs an interdisciplinary approach, drawing from fields such as anthropology, sociology, and religious studies to examine the interconnectedness of religion, folklore, and politics within the Karbi community. This interdisciplinary academic background has equipped him with the necessary tools to explore the complex dynamics of Karbi identity and its intersection with larger socio-political narratives.
