A veteran scholar, and a cultural activist, Dr Teron is a pioneering Karbi who dedicated his life’s cause to the promotion, preservation and documentation of the Karbi culture. With a BA (History) from Diphu Govt. College, Diphu under Gauhati University, Assam, India, he was awarded the Honorary Doctorate degree by Gauhati University for his invaluable contribution to his community and the society as a whole. During his exploration of life, he served in various capacities including as the President/General Secretary of the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS)/Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) from 1978 to 2015. He was also elected as Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council for a 5 year term (1989-1996) and to Assam Legislative Assembly for a term (2001-2005). Presently he is the founder Director of ‘Centre for Karbi Studies’ (CKS) since its inception in March, 2015.
He has authored and edited several books and journals contributing to a wide array of authentic, scholarly and well researched documentation. He has mentored many young minds to develop critical thinking and understanding and to know the Karbi culture without any frills.

He is an institution in himself, who is as inspiring and motivating as his passion for work. An evening conversation over tea with Dr Teron is an enrichment worth a zillion hours.
