ABOUT

As a young indigenous scholar, Kareng Ronghangpi brings authenticity and commitment to her research, driven by empathy. She recognizes the added responsibility of accurately representing her community’s stories and perspectives, ensuring her work is authentic and respectful. With a string of grants and awards under her belt, Kareng has showcased her expertise by organizing and participating in a wide range of events, from regional seminars to international conferences and webinars. She is also a member of esteemed organizations, including NEFA (Nordisk Etnologisk Folkloristisk Arbetsgruppen) at the University of Tartu, Estonia, and the Karbi Indigenous Youth Council. She also works as an artisan, writer, and researcher, contributing to various initiatives in North East India.

Education

With a Bachelor of Arts from Gauhati University and a postgraduate degree from Assam University Silchar , Diphu Campus, Kareng is currently in the final stages of her PhD submission at Royal Global University, Guwahati. Notably, she was a visiting doctoral student at the University of Tartu, Estonia, under the prestigious Dora Plus scholarship (2021-22)
