KORMANDU

YOUTH & HERITAGE HUB

Spread across nearly ten acres, Kormāndu is a sanctuary for learning, gathering, and intentional living. It is a process of building from within, a collective effort to shape a future that remains deeply rooted in Karbi heritage while fostering growth, purpose, and belonging.

The Heart of Kormāndu (what we are envisioning)

  • Karbi Community Kitchen & Garden: A space to grow forgotten vegetables and share authentic meals, using food to preserve stories and traditions.
  • The Open Library: A quiet sanctuary for reading and reflection, centered on community-rooted
    knowledge.
  • Dance Therapy Arena: A dedicated arena for expression and healing through the connection of body and movement.
  • Museum, Living Archive & Recording Studio: A vital hub to document, practice, and preserve Karbi
    oral traditions and musical heritage.
  • Indigenous Seed Bank: A unit dedicated to protecting biodiversity and sustaining local food systems through traditional seeds.
  • Handloom & Bamboo Craft Space: A center for traditional skills and creativity, supporting local
livelihoods through the art of making.
  • An art and skills station: A hands on space for artists and learners to engage in art, craft, sculpting, carpentry, and other practical skills.
  • Waste Management Hub: A practice in mindful, zero-waste living and community sustainability.
Retreat for Self-Connection: A peaceful space designed to help you slow down and reconnect with
    yourself and nature.

Our Philosophy
Kormāndu is a collective effort to hold on to what matters. It is a bridge between the wisdom of the past and the possibilities of the future, built on the belief that growth is wholesome when shared and celebrated..
